The Manchester Police Department Canine Unit held a penny drive at the
Manchester Elementary School, March 30th through April 10th 2009. The students raised $1,399.18 for the Canine program. The
classes that raised the most money were treated to a pizza party. The pizza's were donated by Biv Dawgs Pizza in Manchester. The rest of the students received a snack, donated by the Canine Unit as
a thank you for their participation in the penny drive. The funds raised are going to be utilized for the purchase
of items the dog's needs to better effectively perform his duties, such as equipment and veterinary care. Currently yearly
vaccinations for Canine Lasso are being donated courtesy of Town and Country
Veterinary Clinic in Maysville, Ky. The students was able to visit with Canine Lasso
and understand a little of what his job is. The Manchester Police Canine Unit wants to thank all the parents, children and
persons who made this penny drive such a huge success.
